Microsoft Family Safety + Xbox Settings (Mud Club)
Use this checklist to ensure your child can access Mud Club’s private Minecraft server while keeping family safety settings in place.
You do not need to allow public servers or open chat — only the settings listed below.
👤 Before You Start
- ☐ You are signed in with the parent / family organizer Microsoft account
- ☐ You know your child’s Microsoft/Xbox account email
- ☐ Minecraft is already installed on your child’s device
🛡️ Part 1: Microsoft Family Safety (family.microsoft.com)
Go to: https://family.microsoft.com
Child Profile Selected
- ☐ Child’s profile is selected (not the parent profile)
Xbox & Gaming Permissions
Navigate to: Settings → Xbox & gaming
Set to Allow:
- ☐ Join multiplayer games
- ☐ Play with people outside Xbox Live
- ☐ Join cross-network play
These are required to join Mud Club’s private server
Screen Time & App Access
Navigate to: Screen time → Apps & games
- ☐ Minecraft is allowed
- ☐ Screen time does not block session hours
- ☐ The device your child uses is included
🎮 Part 2: Xbox Privacy Settings (xbox.com)
Go to: https://www.xbox.com
Sign in with the parent account
Open Child’s Privacy Profile
Navigate to:
Profile → Privacy settings → Privacy & online safety → Xbox privacy
- ☐ Child’s profile selected (not a preset only)
Multiplayer & Server Access (Required)
Set ALL to Allow:
- ☐ You can join multiplayer games
- ☐ You can play with people outside Xbox Live
- ☐ You can join cross-network play
Communication (Recommended)
Set to Allow:
- ☐ Communicate with voice & text outside Xbox Live
- ☐ Text chat in multiplayer games
If communication is limited, your child may still join — but interaction may be reduced.
🔄 Final Steps
- ☐ Click Save on Xbox settings
- ☐ Fully close Minecraft
- ☐ Reopen Minecraft and try joining the Mud Club server
🚫 If It Still Doesn’t Work
Check these common blockers:
- ☐ Screen time limits reset overnight
- ☐ Settings were changed from the child account instead of parent
- ☐ Changes were not saved
- ☐ Minecraft wasn’t restarted after changes
💙 Safety Reassurance
- Mud Club servers are private & invite-only
- Sessions are staff-moderated
- No public matchmaking
- You can change or revoke permissions at any time
