Symptoms

On a Windows PC, when launching the Xbox App or Minecraft Launcher, you receive the message:

"You're not connected to the Internet. Check your network connection and try again."

This can occur even when:

  • Websites load normally.
  • Microsoft Store is working.
  • Other applications have internet access.

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity

Confirm that:

  • Websites load normally in your browser.
  • Microsoft Store opens and can download updates.

If both work, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Check Xbox Services

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type services.msc
  3. Press Enter

Verify that the following services are running:

  • Xbox Live Auth Manager
  • Xbox Live Networking Service
  • Gaming Services

Step 3: Start Xbox Live Networking Service

  1. Open PowerShell as Administrator
  2. Run:
Start-Service XboxNetApiSvc
  1. Verify the service is running:
Get-Service XboxNetApiSvc

The service should show a status of Running.

Step 4: Restart the Computer

After starting the Xbox Live Networking Service, restart the computer.

This allows Xbox services and authentication components to reload correctly.

Step 5: Test Again

After the restart:

  1. Open the Xbox App.
  2. Open Minecraft Launcher.
  3. Sign in if prompted.

Additional Notes

If the issue persists after restarting:

  • Repair or reset the Xbox App from Settings > Apps > Xbox > Advanced Options.
  • Ensure Gaming Services is installed and running.
  • Check for VPN, firewall, or DNS filtering software that may interfere with Xbox authentication.
